Life Expectations Essay

My Personal Goals And Expectation As A Student

It has been 20 years since I have been in school and I want to be here at The University of Phoenix to finally get the degree that I have put off for so many years. I realize there may be road blocks ahead of me that I am not aware of at this time, but I am making a commitment to myself to be successful. The road I have chosen is long overdue, but I believe it is the right choice and something I strongly desire. I selected the U of P due the accelerated program offered, the high caliber of educators, and recommendations by friends. After just one class, I'm very excited about my choice and look forward to the challenges ahead.

At the U of P, I hope to obtain the knowledge and tools to help me be successful and to finally make things "right" with myself and my employer. I say this as, in the past, I have misled my former and current employers that I have an education beyond high school. Through hard work and dedication, I have been able to produce and prosper in my professional life, even without an education beyond high school. But I feel with a "real" degree in hand, I'll be more confident and proud of myself for the hard work and dedication it will take to accomplish this goal. Also, the dark cloud of my misrepresentation will finally be lifted. I believe I will finally be proud of myself and gain the honor and integrity I desire.

My personal goal is to obtain a Bachelors degree in Business Management. As I pursue my goal at U of P, I must dedicate myself. To achieve this goal, there must be commitment, discipline, desire and expectations. There will be many challenges that lie ahead of me as I steadily make my journey to achieving a degree. But I feel I can overcome any obstacles and face any challenge, due to my maturity level and positive outlook. Twenty years ago, I did not feel the need or have the desire as I do now.

Other than the obvious goal of obtaining a degree, I hope to finally have the skills, knowledge and tools to obtain further success in my professional life. I also feel a degree will give me more confidence in myself...

My Great Expectations

Everything that I have experienced so far in Flagstaff has been great. In the next four years there are many new thing that I will experience here that I never have by living in phoenix. Also I would like to leave here with a lot more knowledge about different things like business and the community of this city. In the outstanding city of Flagstaff I came with a lot of expectation, will experience many knew things in my college years, and also have two main goals before I leave this city.

In Flagstaff I have and will experience a lot of new things that did not experience from living in Phoenix. The first thing is the small town surroundings, this is a lot different from living in phoenix most of my life. So far it seems that everyone around here is very friendly and everyone is a lot more laid back. Also the surroundings are a lot different from the desert of phoenix. No longer are there saguaro cactuses and dirt everywhere, now there are pine trees and green grass. The abundance of green makes flagstaff a lot prettier then the desert. I have never lived in an area where it snows in the winter, the Flagstaff winters will also be a new experience for me. These are the great new experiences I will have by living in Flagstaff for the next 4 years.

The expectations that I have coming to Flagstaff is having a great education at Northern Arizona University, meet a lot of new people in my four years here, and the new cooler climate here. I expect this university to teach me the business marketing ways so when I get out of college if I work hard I can be a successful business man. I chose to come to Flagstaff for school because of the smaller campus and school size. At any huge university you are just another face in the crowd but here the class sizes are smaller and you can walk to any class on campus. Also by spending the next four years in flagstaff I will meet a lot of new people. I plan on joining a fraternity this semester I will definitely meet a lot of new people by that and also have a lot of new experiences.

Great Expectations Essay - Great Expectations Josh Billings once said "to bring up a child in the way he should go, travel that way yourself once in a while". There are few things as important in the development of youth as the influence of the adults that surround them. The example of influential adults will almost always dictate, in some way, the behaviour of children. Young people look for role models and examples in the adults they meet. In Charles Dickens' novel Great Expectations (1860), vivid adult characters such as the eccentric Miss Havisham, the enigmatic lawyer Jaggers, the simple but kind blacksmith Joe and the mysterious convict Magwitch have fundamental influences over the development of the story's p...   [tags: Great Expectations Essays]1706 words

Also by going through school here for the next four years I will meet a lot of new people through my classes and going through the business school with a numerous amount of people. One of the other reasons I came to Flagstaff is because of the climate and the landscape. This climate lets you do a lot more outdoor activities then Phoenix ever let you do. The one that I am most excited for is snowboarding in the winter. I have been snowboarding for the passed five years and living in the valley it hard to go snowboarding a lot but by living here in Flagstaff for the next four years it will make the snowboarding trips much easier. I really like having snow bowl so close to the university. Lastly I really liked the distance from Flagstaff to Phoenix it is only around two hours away. This allows me to get some space from my mom and dad but if I need to I can also just get home in 2 hours whenever I want. I think that this is the perfect distance. Those are some of the expectations and reasons I have for coming to the wonderful city of flagstaff.

The goals that I would like to have by the time I am done with school are having a degree in marketing and also know a lot about the community of Flagstaff. The most important goal to me here is getting a degree in business marketing at Northern Arizona University. This will hopefully be the start of my successful business career. I plan on getting good grades at the business school which will help me get great connections as soon as I am out of college. When I am out I plan on one day be the CEO of a fortune 500 company and as soon as I make it to that spot I will give money back to the business school here at NAU which led me in the right direction. Another goal that I have before I am done with school here is to have a great knowledge for the city of Flagstaff. The next four years Flagstaff will be my second home and by the time I leave here I want to learn as much as I can about the city. I would like to learn how to get around here, the different events that they have here and also about the history of Flagstaff. So that if I am ever here with someone who has never been to Flagstaff I can teach all sorts of thing about the city. Those are some of goal I would like to have accomplished by the time I leave Flagstaff.

If I leave this city with my expectations being true, having great new experiences here and my goals being accomplished I am confident that I will have an outstanding time living in the city of Flagstaff for the next four years of my life.
